Rhyl business owners, workers and freelancers invited to series of free and exclusive digital masterclasses with Google

North Wales-based workers, freelancers and business owners are being given the chance to attend a free crash course in digital marketing delivered by Google Digital Garage.

The first in a series of three webinar sessions, starting on Tuesday 30 May at 12pm, is aimed at entrepreneurs, freelancers and people with a business idea they are yet to explore, and will cover the fundamentals of digital marketing and online sales from the world’s largest online advertising platform. The following sessions will focus on increasing visibility on Google and boosting social media, and will take place at the same time on Tuesday 27 June and Tuesday 25 July.

The workshop is being held exclusively for small business and coworking experts, Town Square Spaces Ltd (TownSq), and its enterprise hub, Costigan’s Coworking on Bodfor Street. Attendees will be able to participate at the space or dial in remotely. The event is open to anyone, whether or not they are a hub member.

The Google Digital Garage is one of Google's flagship investment programmes in the UK, where anyone can learn free digital skills through a range of courses or one-to-one sessions.

Across the three sessions, participants can expect to receive specialist guidance on digital marketing strategies, social media and visibility on Google’s search engine pages, and will have the chance to receive a one-to-one mentoring session from one of Google Digital Garage’s experts about how they can apply the techniques to their own business.

Costigan’s is operated by TownSq, which has a network of hubs across England and Wales, on behalf of Denbighshire County Council.

Owain Colwell, Community Manager of Costigan’s, said that the workshop presented a unique opportunity for small businesses in the area: “When we speak to small businesses, advice on marketing is almost always their number one request, so we’re proud to be partnering with Google to deliver this specialist business support session and we think that the attendees will get a huge amount of benefit from it.

“Google isn’t just a household name, it’s a vital tool when it comes to digital marketing and all entrepreneurs should aim to master it if they want to maximise their business’ exposure online. That’s why it’s so valuable that the digital marketing support delivered on the programme will come directly from Google’s own experts - it’s a truly rare opportunity for local people to connect with and learn from those at the cutting edge.

“People running a startup or small business are often an expert in their product or service but find themselves learning on the job when it comes to other areas of enterprise including digital marketing. Events like this can prove crucial to filling in those knowledge gaps and helping entrepreneurs to have confidence in all areas of their venture.

“We’d love to hear from people in North Wales with a startup idea or growing enterprise who want to enhance their skill set and make the most of this rare opportunity to learn from the best in the business. The session is free to attend and you’re sure to come away with invaluable new insights - there’s nothing to lose by signing up!”

Debbie Weinstein, Managing Director of Google UK & Ireland, said: “Digital technologies are truly transformative and can help businesses and individuals across the UK to increase their earnings, boost their productivity and unlock their full potential. As a former business owner myself, I understand how tough it is to know where to turn to for advice. That's why we're providing hands-on support as part of our nationwide digital skills drive, to help equip more people with invaluable skills that help to create jobs and economic opportunities.”
